This course is a simple foraging walk where we will identify a selection of edible and poisonous fungi, plants, berries and flowers.
We will meet at the Castle Street entrance to the park outside the Pettigrew Tearooms at 12pm. The course starts there with a 20 minute introduction on what to look for and a brief of the general countryside codes where they relate to foragers.
We’ll then set off on a slow walk around the park. We’ll bring some homemade refreshements along for the walk. Certainly including some wild mushroom soup, possibly some Fruit Leathers, and maybe even some homemade Elderflower Champagne to perk us up along the way, all made from locally foraged ingredients.
After a 2 to 3 hour walk around the Park we will end the day with a lovely wild food lunch based on what we have found. This will include some tasty treats made from our recent finds, a wild salad we’ll pick on the day and a mushroom dish that we’ll cook in front of you.
